First Visit!

In a week where cloudy skies and rain have been dominating, we are fortunate and excited that our first visit to Aurora took place under crystal clear blue skies and sunshine!   Laying eyes on Aurora for the first time in front of the backdrop of Vancouver, Granville Island and Burrard Bridge, set against such perfect blue sky and water, was truly an emotional experience.  To see your decades-long dream come true, floating so peacefully right there in front of you, in wait of so many adventures to come, is an indescribable moment.

Much work has yet to be completed over the next month.  She is filthy from shipping (every outside surface covered in thick sawdust),  mast, rigging, fly bridge structure and other exterior pieces need to be unwrapped, assembled and mounted.  Inside there's not much room to move around as all the exterior cushions for the fly bridge, forward sun lounge and aft salon, plus all the interior carpeting, are all wrapped in plastic and stuffed into the various cabins.  The tradesman installing the hydraunic heat system is having to figure this model of Lagoon out from scratch himself, as this model is quite different from the 42 and 45 foot models he's worked on previously.  Floor hatches throughout the boat - in the galley, salon, cabins and even the heads, are open, exposing all the access points to the wiring and piping.

So Aurora looks a bit like she's just in the middle of renovations, which I guess she kind of is!  But, she's here, finally, after such a long wait.   And yes, the name and logo has yet to still go on the port and starboard hulls.

A walk around from the dock showing the starboard hull, the stern of the boat with the dinghy & lift, and the port hull.  Nothing too terribly exciting!
